PTA President's Message 2022-23

Dear Carver Pioneers,

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! It is an honor to serve as Carver PTA’s President this year as we welcome our new principal, Stuart Caldwell. This year, I want to focus on engaging our families and welcoming new volunteers, so that the PTA can continue to support the programs and experiences at Carver that enrich our children’s lives and foster our sense of community as Carver Pioneers.

My family started at Carver in 2012, when our oldest son entered kindergarten. We moved to San Marino from the Westside so that our children could attend public schools here and have the benefits of a small town with the excitement of Los Angeles still at our doorstep. At Carver, we found much more than a great school -- we became a part of a dedicated community of teachers, staff, parents, and students that opened its arms to us. Each of my four children have attended Carver, from kindergarten through their 5th grade promotions. Our oldest son, still close friends with many of his Carver kinder pals, will be a sophomore at San Marino High School; our middle sons are rising 6th and 8th graders at Huntington Middle School; and our youngest son will be a Carver 4th grader.

Carver is a school like no other, and we rely on support from parents and community members to sustain the PTA programs that make our school exceptional: the Carver Carnival, family picnics, Walking School Bus, Lunar New Year festivities, Bike Rodeo, book fairs, author events in the beautiful Carver Library, art labs, our music lessons, including the Holiday and Spring Music Programs, learning and reading software, and cultural events and experiences. The PTA’s ability to fund these programs and many others is possible only because of the generous donations of time, expertise, and funds by Carver teachers, staff, parents, and the community, and there are always opportunities to participate in big and small ways, from home and at school. So, I invite you to join the Carver PTA and get involved! We cannot do this without you! Thank you for helping in any way you can and showing our children that they, their school, and their education are important.
