Famous Carver Alumni

 

Stephan Pastis graduated from Carver in 1979. Stephan is an American cartoonist and former lawyer who is the creator of the comic strip Pearls Before Swine. He also writes children's chapter books, commencing with the release of Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made all the way through the 7th book, It's the End When I Say It's the End., which debuted at #4 on The New York Times Best Seller list for Children's Middle Grade Books.

 

Blair Imani graduated from Carver in 2005 and is a resident of San Marino. Blair is a writer, mental health advocate, and historian living at the intersections of Black, queer, and Muslim identity. In addition to being a public speaker, Blair is the author of Modern HERstory: Stories of Women and Nonbinary People Rewriting History (2018) and Making Our Way Home: The Great Migration and the Black American Dream (2020).
