Dear 4th and 5th grade Carver families,
The "Coding Club" is set to open it's doors for the 2019-2020 school year at both Carver and Valentine elementary schools! We will be using the online platform 'Scratch' to introduce students to foundational coding concepts. All participants are expected to have a great time building applications and games using block programming.
The first session of San Marino Unified's "Coding Club" will begin on August 29th and end on Nov. 7th. The "Coding Club" will be held in the Carver Innovation Lab from 3:15 - 4:20pm on Thursdays and Fridays.
To provide equal opportunity, I will be opening up the sign up sheets (click here) at 7pm on Wednesday, Aug. 21st. The sign up will appear to be full until this time. There are 20 spaces available and due to overwhelming demand, priority will be given to new 5th graders, followed by 4th graders who haven't yet taken the class. Parents will be informed on whether their children have secured a spot via email within 4 days.
Understand that there will be 3 sessions of the "Coding Club" held throughout the year in the hopes that all 5th graders who want to join will be given the opportunity. Good luck and I look forward to working with your children!
